What Yoga Taught Me about Testing

Add to calendar

Yoga is a practice in which we strive for balance and harmony between mind and body. Similarly, testing is about achieving a needed level of quality by harmoniously melding the goals of the project team, the end customer, and the product. It’s quite a balancing act! Have you noticed that as you “practice” testing, you are able to channel your experience and reinvent your approaches, language, and even attitude when collaborating with your key stakeholders? Just like in yoga, you stretch and extend, attempt new things, succeed or fail, and continue to fine-tune your craft through practice and reflection. Dawn Haynes will share a set of yoga practices that inspire thoughtful reflection about what might be useful in any testing situation, like shifting attitude, finding the most appropriate posture, and using breathing techniques to help you focus. You’re even welcome to try some poses during the session, but no pressure—you don’t need any experience in yoga, workout clothes, or a mat to join in. Just bring yourself, an open mind, and a willingness to expand your testing practice. Namaste!
